8/28/15 Thursday rain 43 degrees
Well, we left at 8:30 am from Whitehorse,YT and arrived at 6 pm in Dease Lake, BC. We said goodbye to the Yukon, no doubt the best scenery of the trip. Also, as we turned south on Hwy 37 the Cassair Hwy just west of Watson Lake, we also said goodbye to the Alaska Highway. It was the road we came to ride and she did not disappoint. Beautiful, challenging, and at times very dangerous. We will miss it, but it was worth all the trouble and risk!
We rode 414 miles today in all rain and cold. I can say this was the first time in the trip that I got cold. Even the heated gear could not keep me warm in the cold rain. As we crossed several mountain ranges I was ready to see snow at any moment.
It was an early night for us, so we are hoping to get a good nights sleep and be on the road by 8. Looking to try and make Prince George, BC some 600 miles away. If we are successful, we are only a short 2300 miles from home!
