We had a lot of making up to do today so we got started early (early for Bates).the weather was about 50 and a slight overcast but the heated gear made it a toasty ride. Road to Billings,MT and have to say Wyoming and Montana do not fail to excite! Beautiful scenery and roads!
After Billings we headed NW toward Great Falls and into the weather again. When you ride out here, I can’t begin to describe the wind around these hills at elevation. It blows you from one side of the road to the other. It’s a workout.
Rain stopped for us in Great Falls. We headed to St Mary, MT on the furthest east side of Glacier National Park. The ride to St Mary in itself was off the charts. The backdrop of Glacier as we headed NW was spectacular. Once in Glacier we began the famous “road to the sun”. I will just say this, everyone should see this! Words and the pictures don’t do it justice. It is so beautiful. Now, it’s a great road but don’t think yoy can go whipping through here like the Tail of the dragon, because you can’t. I mean you want to, but Johnny law is everywhere and the tourists are driving slow (35 mph speed limit) and looking just like you are so there is no rushing this!
This road was in my top 5 “must ride” roads for anyone wanting spectacular scenery and an
Made it into Whitefish, MT and had trouble finding a hotel, duh, everyone is here for the same reason! Got to bed at midnight after 605 miles of riding today, 300 in the weather!
It’s 6:30 in going to try and get Bates up. We had a date at the Candian border 100 miles north of us!
Ride on….
